Shortly after graduation from college, Alma was hired by the Educational Development Implementing Task Force (EDPITAF), an implementing arm for all foreign assisted projects created under
the Philippine Presidential Decree No. 6-A.
Within a year, she was awarded a grant to study Contracts Management at the University of California Los Angeles . She was enamored with the US and decided to immigrate with her family after two years of coming back to the Philippines.
She worked for private companies in various capacities. Prior to her employment at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, she was employed as Assistant Controller at a large international based company. Currently, she is a Senior Utility Accountant in Cost and Project Accounting.
Alma believes in education and learning as a lifelong process. In 2000, she received her Masters in Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University. She is also a licensed real estate agent.
Besides traveling, she loves to read books and listen to motivational speakers such as Anthony Robbins. She particularly likes his quotation “ There is a powerful driving force inside every human being that once unleashed can make a vision, dream, or desire a reality.”
Alma also does volunteer work on Sundays at the Chapel of St. Vincent’s Medical Center with her children and entire family. She said, "I believe in spiritual development because it brings me inner peace.”
BALJIT S. SONI

Baljit Soni, popularly known as BJ is a Principal Accountant
in the Department of Transportation. He has worked with the city over 17 years.
Besides DOT he has worked in LAPD and CDD. His prior occupation included
working for Equitable Financial Services where he learned marketing skills and meeting people.
After graduating from one of the best colleges in
India, St. Xavier’s College, he completed Graduate studies in Accounting from
Eastern Washington University.
Born in Burma (now called
Myanmar), he grew up in
India and has been in U. S. over 28 years. Coming from a diverse background and
growing up in a populated country like India, BJ brings in values of unity in
diversity to the city’s multicultural workforce. BJ loves his traditions and is
very fond of his cultural activities like dancing, attending
social functions,
etc. Besides dancing, he enjoys playing
tennis, table tennis and chess.
His favorite motto is “Live in the present, know
yourself and enjoy.”
ZITA GOTAUCO

Six years ago, Zita began her career with the Dept of Water and Power as a Utility Accountant and ascended in rank to become a Senior Utility Accountant with the General Accounting - CIS.
Her career experiences included being an Accounts Payable Supervisor at Glendale Unified School District. She was also an Assistant Division Chief with National Economic and Development Authority in the Philippines.
She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
She has a BSC degree, major in accounting from St. Scholastica’s College and a Certificate in Development Economics from the University of the Philippines.

As her favorite three words of encouragement to herself and others, “Just do it”, Mary Ann successfully applies this to her career, family, children, and outside endeavors in life. She firmly believes that if you want to be successful in anything and everything you do or want to do, just do it.
Just as she did, her employment of 17 years with the City started as a Clerk Typist at the Department of Water and Power. While working full-time and raising a family, she successfully attained her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of La Verne in California. Moving on, she promoted as an Accountant at Public Works and currently holds a Tax Auditor II position with Office of Finance.
Just as she did, she continues to learn the Philippine language, Tagalog and fluently speaks two other Filipino dialects. Although raised in the island of Guam since the age of six, Mary Ann still holds dear to her heart the Philippine heritage.
Just as she did, Mary Ann balances her busy schedule with her three teenagers at home and adds the joy of traveling, dancing, going to the beach, baseball, and investing in real estate for her personal uplift.
MARILYN ALIBUDBUD

Marilyn works at the Office of the Controller-Audit Division since January 2000. Prior
to her city employment,
she worked in various capacities with different banks like Wells Fargo and Bank of New York.
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Accounting major from the University of the East, Philippines and took some MBA units at the De La Salle Graduate School. Marilyn is a CPA in the Philippines.
Marilyn loves to collect postage stamps.
