Will is the Chairperson of the Education Committee. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University. He has an MBA degree and is a CPA & a Certified Fraud Examiner.
He is currently an Internal Auditor II at the Controller’s Office.
Will is a man of many varied interests - from piano to piloting! He is tri-lingual and can switch languages from English to classical Greek to Spanish! He also dabbles in radio communication and electronics.
He has been married for 22 years and has two children.
Will, a man artistically, musically, and mechanically inclined has lived by two simple words, DO IT!
MARILU DE VERA
Chairperson, Membership Committee
Marilu is currently a Senior Accountant II with DOT and the Chairperson of the Membership Committee. She earned her BSBA degree in Accounting from the University of the East in the Philippines.
She is a co-organizer of the famous Seely Summer Camp event, a three day citywide outing for City families and friends located in the San Bernardino Mountains at very low cost.
Marilu is the scion of the talented ‘Fermins’. The Fermin clan has a combined total of more than 100 years of city service. Marilu is married to Rhod de Vera and together they have three sons. Her middle son, Daniel, a high school sophomore with a 4.0 average received a scholarship grant.
RICHARD HEREDIA
Chairman, Election and By Laws Committee
Richard is LAMAAA’s Chairperson of the Election & By-laws Committee. He is currently an Auditor II of the Tenant Audit Division at the LA World Airports. Richard's career in Public Service began when he joined the LAWA two years ago.
Richard graduated from California State University, Los Angeles in 1995 with a BSBA degree, Accounting Option.
His varied interests outside of work include mainly attending Bikram Yoga twice a week and the gym thrice a week.
LINDA GRANADOS
Editor-In-Chief, LAMAAA Newsletter
Linda Granados is the Editor in Chief of LAMAAA for two consecutive years. She was promoted five months ago as a Senior Accountant I at the Department of Airports.
She has a BSBA degree, major in Accounting and also has a degree in Customs Brokerage.
Linda’s first city job was at the Department of Transportation as an Accountant I and later promoted to the Department of Public Works as an Accountant II.
Prior to her city employment, Linda was a Lead Senior Accountant/Budget Analyst at Transamerica Corp for fourteen years. She worked as Project Accountant for three years in Century city.
Linda is in the Toastmaster Encounter Group and is working on her third speech. She volunteers as an auditor of the St. Jane Food Pantry in North Hollywood. One of her favorite quotes is “ A book is like a garden in your pocket.”
ART C. FAELNAR
Website Manager
Art created and has been maintaining the LAMAAA website for a number of years (since Anita Domingo's term). As its Website Manager, he is responsible for enhancing the articles submitted by the Newsletter
Committee and finally
publishing them on
the web.
He learned website design by being a volunteer webmaker at his former employer, a non-profit organization. The work group he belonged to was responsible for creating the first website for that institution. Most of the website tricks he uses though came from reading books written about the subject.
Art also loves photography. He took and finished a correspondence course with the New York Institute of Photography. He is just happy to be able to show the things that he learned through the various websites he has created and maintains.
Art is a product of the University of the East and works as a Tax Auditor II at the Office of Finance. He likes being out in the field, making taxpayers happy by showing them how to report their business taxes properly. He is also the Governor for MOU1 of EAA, the party who has been working hard to gain equality and fairness for city workers.
NORMA CABANA
Chairperson, Social & Community Services
Norma is the current chairperson of the Committee on Social and Community Services.
Norma is an Accountant II
in the Controller’s Payroll Section responsible for the City’s Federal and State Payroll Tax Reporting. She held the position of Paymaster for three years.
She began her city career with the LADWP and for a decade moved up from a Clerk Typist to become a Senior Clerk Typist.
In spite of a demanding schedule, she juggled and found quality time for her husband and three children. She is especially proud of her eldest daughter who is currently an honor student at Cal State Long Beach, majoring in Pharmacy.
Her favorite motto: Success is to be able to live life in your own way.
JOSE REY GATCHALIAN
Chairperson, Scholarship & Awards Committee
Jose Rey or Jig Gatchalian is the chairman of LAMAAA's Scholarship Committee. He is currently a Senior Accountant II at the Dept of Public Works
Jig belongs to a family of lawyers and schoolteachers. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, major in Accounting at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran and is a CPA.
Jig began his city career six years ago with the Department of Aging as an Accountant. Within a year, he was promoted as an Auditor with the Community Development Department - Audit division.
Prior to his city employment, Jig worked at Security Pacific Bank as a control proof operator for a year. He also worked for Bell Industries as a Treasury Assistant for two years.
He and his wife, together have raised three kids ages 24, 21 & 15. He has subscribed to the motto "Push hard until it gets done".
LOURDES SALUDARES
Agent for Service of Process
Lourdes is a Senior Auditor at the Los Angeles Police Department. She has been with the City of Los Angeles for twenty seven. She is licensed CPA in the US and the Philippines.
She earned her BSBA degree, magna cum laude from the University of the East. She is a recognized leader and is the current Agent for Service of Process of LAMAAA.
Lourdes is the person responsible for ensuring that our organization complies with all the federal, state and city requirements to maintain our status as a non-profit organization.
AMY ROBLES
LAMAAA Historian
Amy is the History Committee Chairperson. She works as an Internal Auditor II at the Controller's Office and is an active member of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA)
Amy is a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of the East and was on the dean’s list when she pursued her Master in Business Administration (MBA) at De La Salle University Graduate School of Business and Economics.
She is a recipient of many awards such as 1991 Far East Bank’s Model Employee, 2000 Quality and Productivity Improvement Award, 2001 Commendation from the City Controller’s Office, 2002 AGA Chapter Newsletter Award in printed category.
