Finance Department certificate recipients
Assuming the accounting responsibilities of the department, Ursie and Ed play critical roles in the Accounting Services Section of the Administation Division in the Office of Finance. They continue to demonstrate dedication to the accounting profession through timely completion of tasks and financial reports. Working as a team, they have assisted in providing & evaluating fiscal controls in the department. They provide accounting support to the different divisions of the department. Through conscientious performance of their duties, our department has maintained its high rating in the Controller’s Certification and Fiscal Monitoring Program.
In July, 2008, Ed moved to the department’s Citywide Billing and Collection Section. His much-needed accounting background would assist the Section in meeting the goals tasked by the department and the Mayor/Council. Ursie continues to perform the accounting functions, provide support and training, provide oversight to the Teller Unit of the Accounting Services Section and assist the Chief Accounting Employee on the section’s regular, special and new assignments.
Amy Lombard is a Senior Accountant II in the Office of Finance. She has 10 direct reports (3 Accounting Clerk II; 3 Accounting Clerk I; 3 Clerk Typist and 1 Tax Renewal Assistant II). Her primary tasks include providing oversight to the Special Billing and Referrals Unit in processing penalty waivers, uncollectible write-offs; special billings and collection agency invoices. She randomly reviews staff work for correctness, provides training to staff and handles the more complex tasks in the unit. At work, Amy applies her Accountant skills to support department goals, optimize productivity and minimize waste. She plans, organizes and distributes workloads in her Unit to meet changing priorities. She prepares her reports in logical fashion and provides adequate supporting statistical data. She takes raw data and summarizes them into meaningful spreadsheets that are readily understandable to both accountants and the non-accountant. Her reports have helped management in the decision process. Furthermore, because of her accounting background, she has acquired an insightful understanding of LATAX, which she shares with her co-workers. Amy Lombard deserves recognition as a valued asset to the Accounting profession in the City of Los Angeles. Her accounting skills have contributed to the overall revenue collection effectiveness of the Office of Finance.
